Cash Money Brothas - CMB Vol 3

I don't have alot of information on CMB - Cash Money Brothas other then they were pretty popular in the Midwest especially Chicago area in 90's. Other than Indiana's DJ Pony Boy I couldn't find any other deejay name associated with CMB. How many members of CMB were they? Why they stopped producing mixtapes? I can't say but I do know that DJ Ponyboy lives out here in California and is a member of the Hip Hop group Los Marijuanos.

I heard the year 1994 associated with this mix but based upon the tracklist I would say this mix was released  sometime in 1992. This mixtape along with other CMB mixes are very similar to DJ Rectangle mixes from 90's. A few blends here and there with some dope cuts interspersed through the mix. No doubt this is a good addition to your mixtape collection.

DJ Mane One & Ervin Arana - The Match Up

There have been several "Match Up" battles this year DJ Raichous vs Ohmega Watts and Jaba One vs Ikah Love to name a few but considering The Grand Imperial Mane One is more well known amongst the blogsphere then other previous deejays this Match up is more noteworthy.

I hate to say it but in my opinion Ervin Arana won this battle. His selection of tunes and overall vibe had more energy than Mane's..sorry Mane. However it's true the favor was on Ervin's side considering he went second. In a battle the person who goes first is always in the bad position. Your opponent can always change their set list.

DJ Superix and Rob Pursey - All Black Everything

May, now forever known as the month of Malcolm X's Birth (May 19) and the death of Gil Scott Heron (May 27).

Instead of dropping a Scott Heron album on you I thought I'll repost this mix from January of 2010 by UK's Superix. Considering the overall nature of GSH's pro-black activism I think it's a fitting tribute to his legacy within and upon Hip Hop.

This is mine and Rob Breezy's tribute to that era with 20 classic and
lesser known tracks from the likes of King Sun, Brand Nubian, Lakim
Shabazz, Chosen Ones, BDP, Poor Righteous Teachers etc.

DJ Element - Origin The Mixtape

There are some serious scratching in this all vinyl Breaks mix by Arizona's DJ Element (Furious Styles Crew). Not many rare breaks but Bboys and Break lovers are gonna love this mix from 2000.

On a side note Element's fellow Furious Styles Crew member Chino D (Mighty Zulu Kingz) used to live out here in the IE back in mid 80's. I remember him from the party crew days. He used be in club called Soft Touch Posse back then. He was of one of few people on west coast at that time that actually had connection to Hip Hop's NYC scene. I'm not sure if he was in Zulu Nation back in those days but later he went on to be apart of Blak Forest Crew

DJ Big Boy - RnB FlashBack Mix

San Jose's DJ DJ Big Boy released this mix about two years ago. No fancy mixing or beatjuggling but it does contain some good tunes. Of course since the mix contains Bobby Brown's Every Little Step I have to post the Wayne Brady/Mike Tyson video.

Every Little Step with Mike Tyson & Wayne Brady from Mike Tyson

This is a 40 minute mix of r&b. It includes a lot of mid 90s artists like SWV, Jade, The Boys, Bobby Brown, etc etc. There is a few tracks that are as old as 2001, but mostly stay in the 90s and a few late 80s. No remixes and no mashes here, just 12" versions or the originals. Enjoy

Although this can't be described as an all breaks mix it does contain mostly breaks with Sweet & Knowledge laying down some good scratches over them. It's not too heavy with turntablism and it's pretty funky mix. Shoutout to B Boy Sid for passing this mix my way.

DJ DMadnes & DJ Zita - Golden Mixes Vol 2

For those who loved Golden Mixes vol 1 (Here) I got Vol two for you today. This time Dmadness & Zita rock some 90's Hip Hop with a little help from Bay Area's Aima The Dreamer.

With fierce Cali femcee AIMA escorting, Z&D mix, cut and blend to life the era when MCs dedicated entire songs to their DJs...when a hip hop artist could actually be somebody's hero. But at the end of the day, as dead.prez assert, "It's bigger than hip hop"..and as Andre reminds, "Heroes eventually die." Slap Vol.2 in the boombox and bob your head as you make a list of your own heroes - hip hop or not.
